Our Curriculum

A Curriculum That Sparks Joy and Curiosity

Inspiring Young Minds Through Play and Exploration

We believe in a well-rounded, play-based curriculum guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Our daily routines blend intentional teaching with spontaneous exploration to inspire curiosity, creativity, and joy. From introducing Auslan (Australian Sign Language) to embedding sustainability and community engagement, we proudly offer a nurturing environment where every child thrives.

Learning Environments for Every Stage of Development

Butterfly Room
2–3 Years

A Space for Exploration, Discovery, and Early Growth

The Butterfly Room is designed to support toddlers through their most curious and formative years. In this nurturing environment, children are encouraged to:

  • Build foundational skills like sharing, problem-solving, and early communication.
  • Engage in sensory play activities, including messy play, water exploration, and early arts and crafts.
  • Participate in group activities that foster socialisation and early friendships.
  • Explore the world around them through interactive storytelling, music, and movement sessions.

Busy Bee Room
3–5 Years

School Readiness and Lifelong Learning Foundations

The Busy Bee Room is where preschoolers take the next step in their learning journey, focusing on school readiness and confidence-building. Key features of the program include:

  • School Readiness: Teaching essential skills like early literacy, numeracy, and STEM concepts through hands-on learning.
  • Social-Emotional Development: Encouraging teamwork, resilience, and self-esteem through group projects and leadership opportunities.
  • Creative Expression: Opportunities to engage in arts, dramatic play, and storytelling to foster imagination and communication skills.
  • Community Engagement: Regular visits to the library, parks, and local schools to build familiarity with the broader community.

Empowering Every Child Through Auslan and Visual Learning

At Happy Days Preschool, we go above and beyond to ensure every child, regardless of their abilities, has access to an exceptional early education. We proudly accommodate children who are deaf or hard of hearing, creating an inclusive environment where they can thrive alongside their peers.

Our educators incorporate visual learning aids, Auslan (Australian Sign Language), and other communication strategies into everyday activities to support and empower children with hearing loss.

To foster understanding and inclusivity, all children at Happy Days are exposed to and encouraged to learn these forms of communication. This shared learning experience not only supports their peers but also builds empathy, connection, and a sense of community among all the children.

By providing specialised resources, promoting inclusive practices, and celebrating diversity, we ensure that children who are deaf or hard of hearing develop confidence, social connections, and essential developmental skills.

Supporting Healthy Development Through the STEPS Program

Preparing children for school extends beyond academics. Through the STEPS Program, all children at Happy Days Preschool receive free vision screening before transitioning to primary school. This essential initiative ensures children have the visual foundation needed for successful learning and development. By integrating this program, we demonstrate our commitment to each child’s holistic well-being and readiness for the next stage of their education.
